Driving Sustainability: Exploring How Transport Entrepreneurs in Western Tamil Nadu Integrate Eco-Friendly Investments
Abstract
To promote social cohesiveness, economic growth, and environmental sustainability, transportation is essential. Including sustainability principles in transportation investment decisions is becoming more and more important as worries about climate change and environmental degradation grow. The purpose of this empirical study is to evaluate the degree to which transport business owners in Tamil Nadu, India's west districts integrate sustainability aspects into their decision-making processes. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combines qualitative interviews with quantitative surveys. To learn more about the awareness, attitudes, and practices of transport business owners regarding integrating sustainability into investment decisions, a sample of these owners is questioned. In-depth discussions are also carried out to learn more about the elements affecting their decision-making procedures and the difficulties they encounter when incorporating sustainability issues. Although transport business proprietors are becoming more conscious of sustainability challenges, primary study specifies that there is still little practical incorporation of sustainability concepts into investment choices. Key obstacles to sustainability integration include things like insufficient funds, a lack of incentives from the government, and a lack of knowledge about sustainable practices. However, there are also instances of creative strategies and best practices used by some companies, telling that the transportation industry may be able to integrate sustainability more fully. Policymakers, business participants, and researchers working to advance sustainable transportation systems should take note of the study's conclusions. By determining the obstacles and possibilities for incorporating sustainability into transportation investment choices, this study aids in the creation of plans and regulations meant to encourage the area to adopt more ecologically friendly transportation methods.
