INTEGRATION OF IDEOLOGICAL AND POLITICAL EDUCATION AND MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION IN COLLEGES


Abstract
The college years is an important period of physical and mental development. This paper aims to fully integrate the ideological and political education and mental health education in Chinese colleges. Firstly, the correlations between the two types of education were discussed in details. Then, the freshmen of a university in China were selected to receive ideological and political education for three months. The experimental results were analysed based on self-rated health measurement scale (SRHMS), self-assessment anxiety scale (SAS), irrational belief scale (IBS) and Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90). On this basis, a 3D four-level education network was developed to couple ideological and political education and mental health education. The results show that the students saw great improvements in mental health with the improving level of ideological and political education; the female students made greater progress on ideological and political education under the designed education network. The research results open a new direction for the research on mental health of college students.
