PSYCHOANALYSIS ON THE PRINCIPLES OF ANIMATION DESIGN BASED ON COGNITIVE LOAD

Abstract
The existing studies on 3D teaching animation only focus on the technical aspects, failing to consider psychological factors like the cognitive load. To bridge the gap, this paper explores the relationship between animation design and psychological cognition. The design of 3D teaching animation was analysed based on the principle of learner centrism and the cognitive load theory. Then, the influencing factors of the learner’s cognitive load in 3D animation design were identified, and the principles of the design were summed up as necessity, guiding thinking, concise presentation, adjacent presentation, and speed. On this basis, the author designed a 3D teaching animation, and verified the effectiveness of the animation through a control experiment. During the experiment, two parallel classes were taught with our 3D teaching animation, and with natural learning, respectively. The two classes were compared in terms of cognitive load and learning effect. The results show that our 3D teaching animation can greatly improve the cognitive load of the students. This research provides important guidance on the design of teaching animation based on cognitive psychology.
